Where Do Married Lesbians Go On Dates?

IKEA, of course.

Whenever Lucien and I are around an IKEA, we just have to have our token date of walking the labyrinth, then finishing it off with a hot dog and frozen yogurt. Before we left Vancouver to come back to Alberta, we went for a walk in dream land.

These are some of the things we added to our wish list for our someday home. One that doesn’t have wheels.

I can’t help myself. I love these old-lady wing chairs. They’re pretty comfy, especially with our feet up on the matching foot stool.

Built-in wine cabinet. Who wouldn’t want a built-in wine cabinet??

We LOVE this kitchen. The huge island with lots of seating will be a necessity in our future home. The glass cabinets are perfect when having company over – no need to open every cabinet door to look for a wine glass. White quartz? All over it!

I have to have a farmhouse style apron sink and this one is just beautiful.

Organization and ample storage in the kitchen is key.

Especially these drawer organizers. Love.

Multi-purpose furniture pieces are our favorite. Perfect for storing cozy blankets on cold Canadian nights. I also think the polka dot wall paper is cute. Lue says I’m a dork.

Large sectional for cuddling up and watching movies. We plan on having a large family.

We dream of having a large dining room. Formal place settings remind me of my childhood when the family would pile into my grandmother’s house for Sunday dinners.

THIS table is lovely. I love the exposed finger joints.

Dark entertainment unit. Lue loves this one.

I’m partial to this multi-dimensional, more traditional style.

I imagine having a daybed in my office space. This one just looks so inviting for an afternoon nap.

After having tiny, barely accessible closets in shitty apartments for so long, I will have a nice closet like this some day.

With organizers for our ties, hats, belts, shoes, and such.

Lue’s must-have: a faux brick wall in the master bedroom.

Can we have a guest room that looks like this?

The best part of our IKEA dates are walking through the bedding section. I think it is hard for the both of us to leave without a new duvet cover. I usually gravitate towards the neutral tones, like in the top picture. Last time, Lue got the paisley duvet set (bottom picture, far left). I still say it’s too busy. The pattern is too small, it even makes Stitch jumpy. This time, I said I kind of like the navy one with the flowers (bottom picture, 4th from the left). Lue told me I was crazy. I disagree.

But…. what’s up with the bikes now?

What sort of dates do you go on?
