What a crazy couple of months!
It’s been a bit of a shit show, really. The weather in February had been absolutely brutal. And sure kept Lu on her toes 24/7. Sleep was a luxury. Thank God it’s finally spring!
The “polar vortex” we were in, pulled out all the stops.
First, our propane tank gelled. Lu switched tanks and lines, but it got so cold overnight that our water pump froze. Lu thawed that but it took 12 hours.
Then the water line to our shower froze, we got that thawed in just a couple hours.
Then Lu got the call back to work so we started to frantically get the 5th wheel travel ready. We got down to one of the last tasks. Pulling in the slides.
That didn’t go too well. Neither our dinette slide nor our kitchen slide wanted to move. In -30°C I don’t bloody blame them.
So. We called the tech. It took a few tries, but we got him out. The slides now work but guess what else doesn’t like cold… plastic. Specifically plastic casters on which the bed moves in and out. It exploded into many pieces.
Amidst all this…
We are communicating back and forth with the realtor, mortgage broker, and lawyer, respectively, to buy a home in a little mountain town.
Now in March, we have been carefully sourcing furniture pieces and planning our renos. Nothing radical, just some basic cosmetic surgery.
More to come on that.
For weeks, it felt like we were sitting and waiting for something to happen. Then, of course, everything happens. All. At. Once.
Sometimes, that’s just how the cookie crumbles. It tests our perseverance, and our patience with ourselves, the situation, and with each other. But in the end, we are victorious, once again. And after 12 years, I don’t want to go through any of this with anyone else but the most amazing woman in the world. My superhero and love of my life.
Here are a few snippets of our new home inspiration…
Check out our sectional sofa here. We are so excited for this delivery so we can get cozy and snuggle!
We got a basic bed base from IKEA and we’re gonna get creative with a headboard.
Next month will mark the arrival of our dining table.
